What
WE
can do

We wish to foster and support a reflection,

a rethinking, a re-imagining

of the CIRCULARITY of all kinds of sheep WOOL and we want to do it walking toward an integrated human-environment system

Speakers
We are three, different, researchers.

United through our love for the multiverse world of sheep's wool. Love that moved us, in the encounter and in the search, to walk together a step of the way.

"Women Wanting Wool" was born as a project selected from 50 proposals received in answer to the opening call Women4RES 2021 (https://w4res.eu), dedicated to the selection of initiatives promoted by women within the field of 'Renewable Heating and Cooling solutions'(RHC)

Through services and tools made available by the W4RES consortium, we have been able to develop a more structured process of analysis that wants to contribute to the definition of the 'wool' scenario in its practices and processes, from field to shearing, from sorting to washing, from carding to the different product processing, up to the design, distribution, and installation of wool technology solutions.

In our journey, we were able to notice on one hand how much potential wool has, and on the other hand how much fragmentation breaks its same potential, both on the level of information and on the level of production and benefit of finished products.

We have only touched on the wide breadth of the several studies concerning wool as a raw material (and that valorize its nature) and the many different initiatives that cross the subject of 'wool' on a multitude of levels (and that thus, valorize its culture)

We do not wish, then, to add our personal narrative to the rich archipelago that already exists. Rather, we dream of gathering 'the voices of the field' in a choreographic intent: giving back, together, voice to wool.

To fuel a dialogue that can nurture future perspectives, cooperating toward the creation of more conscious services, products and information.

To try to do this, we have drawn up a survey, as simple but comprehensive as possible, starting with a careful analysis of the rings of the 'wool' value chain and the actors that animate it, to first of all mapping this multidisciplinary supply chain, now partly ghosted.

A map being created on the way, question after question, answer after answer, feedback after feedback.

?
By sharing their own experience, everyone can contribute to drawing more accurate information on the ''wool'' issue and, as a result, co-design the input for a renewed life of this invaluable natural resource, which we can no longer afford to neglect, dissipate and devalue. Because a resource is not only a raw material, it is also history, knowledge, it is an active part of a wider set of generative and regenerative processes, a resource is together nature and culture.

Our work in this space therefore focuses on questions.

Questions that shape a survey, a questionnaire that will shape a final shared report, as a result of a co-creation process, which starts from self-reflection.

The more contributions we are able to collect and connect, the more we will be able to read the current picture in its meanings and paradoxes (how it is), outline an ideal picture (how it should be) and weave factual-resolution hypotheses (how it can be done) for a regenerated 'wool' value chain.

If you recognize yourself among
one or more of these figures:
  • Sheep Breeder and/or Owner

  • Farm Workers

  • Wool Harvesters and/or Brokers

  • Operator/Entrepreneur in wool processing

  • Professionals involved in Designing, Implementing, Managing, and Installing wool solutions for Eco-Building, Agro-Technology, Landscaping Restoration

  • Wool Curious/Enthusiastic/Proactive (those of us who don't work directly with wool but love it)

And you are also sensitive

to wool-related impacts,

participate in the survey!!!
